Autumn Update 2009
Autumn Update 2009
Welcome to our fledgling website. We have searched high and low for the showcase hotels that we will feature on our site and have finally brought together our fabulous portfolio. Our task now is to get them all loaded so that you can peruse them at your leisure, after all, there’s no better way to while away a chilly Autumn evening than lingering over some hot little properties whilst enjoying a glass of super chilled wine.
We love Autumn, both in the UK and overseas. September to December are great months to travel to many places that are sometimes considered “off season”. Taking a vacation during a period that is slightly outside of the traditional high season has a number of advantages, the first is that you are not jostling for space and another is that you will not pay a premium for your accommodation. One such place is South Africa, the main tourist routes are less bustling and this means that you can drop your vacation down a gear or two allowing you to really soak up the atmosphere and scenery at a pace that suits you. Our team on the ground has put together two wonderful itineraries for September 2009. Both itineraries will take in very different safari experiences as well as the much loved and talked about Garden Route. We wish we could sneak a week away from the office ourselves as our featured hotels and inns of South Africa are simply divine.
Another area of the World that we find adorable at this time of the year is California. What could be more exciting than a road trip along the Pacific Coast taking in San Francisco, Carmel or Big Sur, San Simeon and the grand finale being the super cool and trendy coastal resort of Laguna Beach. The scenery from start to finish is breathtaking and more than adequately romantic.
If you are trying to squeeze in a short break before the end of the year then why not combine a shopping trip in Boston with a few days in New England? If you think that New England is all about Laura Ashley inspired interiors and pot pouri then think again..Check out the Vanessa Noel hotel in Nantucket. Think Ian Schraeger-style wrapped in a historic package. Vanessa Noel who’s shoe store is on the first floor has decorated the eight rooms of the historic building with boutique hotel features including Phillipe Starck fixtures, Queen size feather beds with custom Frette linens, BVULGARI toiletries and plasma screen televisions. The Vanno bar, a caviar and champagne bar on the first floor has novelties such as leopard print calf skin banquettes, two swings and food from the Caviarteria, the New York City caviar emporium.
If the Vanessa Noel hotel sounds a bit wacky for you but you like the idea of a “foodie” type short break then check out our sensational Marques De Riscal hotel in Rioja or the Les Sources de Caudalie hotel in Bordeaux. Check-outThe London New York Hotel in New York and the London West Hollywood-Room service by non other than Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen. The Gansevoort Miami-We don’t think that its as well placed as The Delano but it’s bound to be as uber cool as the sister hotel in New York.
Where would we visit in Autumn? Jackson Hole in Autumn is just as inviting as it is in high summer. The crowds have thinned, the air is bracing and guests can marvel at the remarkable Autumn foliage. In Jackson Hole, many summer activities from wildlife safaris and hiking to mountain biking and fishing extend well into Autumn. The call of the bull elk is heard throughout the region during the September-October mating season. Amangani arranges private trips to Jenny Lake, a favoured spot for mating elks. Hunting seasons for elk, deer and waterfowl are generally open from September until December.
